Exciting summer job!

Bergen’s most exciting summer job! We are looking for service-minded, friendly, obliging, outgoing, enthusiastic, responsible, eager-to-learn, fast-working and meticulous staff for the 2011 summer season.

Our temporary office while we wait for the new Mathallen (Food Court).

The Tourist Information takes on between ten and fifteen new seasonal staff every year. In all, there are approximately 35 employees in the department during the summer season.

New employees should be over 22 years of age, be able to work at least nine weeks during the period from 1 May to 30 September and clearly state an interest in working for at least three summer seasons. In addition to fluent Norwegian, they also have to master at least two foreign languages, preferably English and German, or, alternatively, French, Spanish or Italian.

The final date for applications is 31 March. We prefer you to submit your application in person, but you can also send it to head of department Inger Norma Balean. Please enclose a photo of yourself.

Product training will be provided. It is important that you also have good prior knowledge about the products that we sell and provide information about. Experience or education in sales and marketing or a good attitude in that connection will be an advantage.

It is an advantage if you have good knowledge of:

  • Bergen in general and attractions such as museums, sights and attractions.
  • Accommodation options in Bergen, such as hotels, guest houses and campsites.
  • Sightseeing and fjord tours that are sold at the Tourist Information
  • The region around Bergen, such as Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane – the coast and the fjords.
  • Geography, the road network, transport options such as boat, car, bus and train.

In addition to knowledge about products, it is also an advantage that you have good personal qualities - service-minded, friendly, obliging, outgoing, enthusiastic, responsible, eager-to-learn, meticulous and the ability to work quickly. It is also an advantage if you are a non-smoker.

As part of your training, you will take part in some demonstration tours and seminars a few evenings before the start of the season. This is to ensure that you are up-to-date and well-informed before you start working. Some of these sessions are compulsory. One of the seminars includes an information workshop held in April. Two-day individual training in internal procedures etc. will be provided immediately before you start work. We would also appreciate it if you learned about products on your own initiative. We can provide you with tickets to enable you to do so.

We hope that you are tempted to become part of an active and inspirational workplace, which is both hectic and fun.
We look forward to hearing from you!
