History and tradition
The people of Bergen are proud of their historical background and determined to learn from it. Bergen has a long tradition as a congress city. The first major assembly took place in 1163 when Magnus Erlingsson was crowned King of Scandinavia. Naturally, Bergen has been playing host ever since, not from a sense of duty but because of the city's genuinely hospitable nature.

Bergensian hospitality
Today, Bergen is regarded as an international congress city, with major conferences following one another. This is understandable when you realise how easily accessible Bergen can be. The city has 33 hotels with more than 8,000 beds, and every conference facility that one could wish for. The added attraction for conference organisers is the wide selection of activities and excursions that both Bergen and its local surroundings have to offer.

The unique and infectious atmosphere of Bergen plays a decisive role in attracting more and more conferences:
Bergen really does have something for everyone!

Bergen, the city where everyone is your host
As a conference organiser in Bergen you may rest assured that all your requests will be dealt with in a professional and courteous manner, right down to the smallest detail.

With their expertise and broad experience in planning and organising conferences, Bergen Convention Bureau and local PCO's can guarantee you a successful arrangement. Bergen has a wide selection of accommodation, as well as excellent conference facilities for up to 3,000 delegates. The city also hosts a variety of trade shows and exhibitions.

Of course, all this is only to be expected of a major international congress city. What makes Bergen special, however, is the added-value and quality of its infrastructure.

Every Bergensian is proud to play his or her part in making visitors feel at home, and few places in the world can offer such a variety of social arrangements and of excursions in such beautiful surroundings!
Excellent international and domestic flight connections and good communications in general make Bergen easier to get to than you think. Bergen has the added advantage of having such a compact centre that everything is within walking distance.
